Are you or is someone you know struggling with temptation today? (I think for all of us, the answer is “yes”!) Then join me today in prayer to our faithful and loving God!
Lord, thank you that you have promised that no temptation has overtaken us but such as is common to man. We acknowledge and affirm that you are faithful! You will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able, but with the temptation you will provide the way of escape also, so that we will be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13).
We pray today that you would fulfill in us your words found in 2 Peter 1:2-8. We ask that grace and peace be multiplied to us in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. We ask that you would, through your divine power, grant us everything pertaining to life and godliness. Give us a true knowledge of you – the God who has called us by your own glory and excellence. We praise you that you have granted to us your precious and magnificent promises, so that by them we may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
We ask that you would help us to be diligent to add to our faith moral excellence, and to our moral excellence, knowledge, and to our knowledge, self-control, and to our self-control, perseverance, and to our perseverance, godliness, and to our godliness, brotherly kindness, and to our brotherly kindness, love. For we know that if these qualities are ours and are increasing, they render us neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, we praise you for your word and your faithfulness! It is in your name that we ask all these things, to the glory of God. Amen.
