This is the core and center of our Christian hope – God will make his home with us for all eternity! Immanuel will live forever among us! The throne of God will be situated in New Jerusalem!
Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the day before the Fall – we will walk with God forever on the New Earth, with no sin to ever disrupt our relationship with him. We will have open communication with him and be able to ask questions and find answers. We will laugh with him, for he is the Fount of joy and fun and humor. We will learn to sit in silence with him to catch a glimpse of his depth and mystery and solitude. We will explore the wonders of his New Earth and revel in his astonishing creativity.
All the best of this world – creativity, relationships, civilizations, culture, philosophy, mathematics, poetry, music beauty, joy, mystery … everything – is but a reflection of what God is, the God who is the Author of all the best in life. In the New Earth, we will have all eternity to discover ever more clearly who he is, and have the time of our life as we do so!
