Spiritual lukewarmness and laziness go hand in hand. Sometimes laziness precedes sin, so that we sin because we have become spiritually lazy; and sometimes it follows it, so that we become spiritually lazy because we have allowed sin to creep into our lives. Regardless, sin and laziness go hand in hand.
We can see laziness in the Revelation 3:14-22 – the people were resting on their laurels: “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.” The cure is found right next to the word “repent” in verse 19: “Be earnest!” In other words, “Get up and DO something!”
