When my sister and I visited Glacier National Park in Montana, we passed this lake every day. The incredible sapphire blue was breathtaking - this picture hardly does it justice.
But notice: the intensity of the blue is magnified because the farther shore is grey - it was burned in a wildfire, and the forest has not yet rejuvenated.
I wonder if that reflects a truth in our lives, too. Sometimes, our current joy can be intensified and magnified when we contrast it with past pain we have experience.
